Ukraine Delivers 80 Locally Produced Military Trucks to Warfighters

Ukraine has distributed the first tranche of all-wheel drive military trucks to the armed forces’ combat brigades as part of a state-guarantee contract with a local industry partner.

The package included 80 vehicles that will be used for combat and special mission support, according to the defense ministry.

The framework for delivering the fleet was first announced in November last year with an overall target of up to 200 units.

The budget for this project amounts to 4.4 billion hryvnias ($105.2 million), all of which will be sourced from the state budget.

Over 50 percent of production will be facilitated in Ukraine.

“The state contract was signed in December 2024, and by January 2025, we received approximately 80 military trucks with 4×4 and 6×6 wheel configurations,” Ukrainian Defense Ministry Procurement Policy Director Hlib Kanevskyi commented.

“These vehicles are designed to transport personnel and military cargo.”

The adoption of large-scale military trucks is part of a broader initiative to fill gaps in the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ capabilities.

Approximately 30 billion hryvnias ($717.8 million) will be set aside for this plan, with all contracts to be fulfilled through state-guaranteed agreements.

After the trucks, the defense ministry is expected to focus next on supplying more offensive firepower for the military.

“In 2024 the Ministry of Defense has emphasized the procurement of military equipment for the rear: armored cars and medevacs, special cargo equipment, bath and laundry complexes, fuel stations, etc.,” Kanevskyi stated.

“In 2025, we will focus on purchasing impression tools to do as much damage to the enemy as possible.”
