L3Harris Demos T7 Robot With Advanced Electronic Warfare Capabilities

L3Harris has equipped its T7 unmanned ground vehicle with cutting-edge electronic warfare (EW) capabilities, enabling it to disrupt enemy communications, radar systems, and other electronic assets on the battlefield.

The upgraded robot was recently demonstrated at Vanguard 2024, where it successfully detected and neutralized small drones.

According to L3Harris Robotics Chief Engineer Dr. Paul Bosscher, the integration allows the T7 to sense and disrupt signals several kilometers ahead of military units, keeping soldiers out of harm’s way.

The EW system can be remotely activated or deactivated, allowing the robot to shut down its own signals and reposition quickly without being detected.

In addition to its EW missions, the enhanced T7 can recover downed friendly drones or deploy small unmanned aerial systems using its robotic arm.

A ‘Strong Choice’ for EW Missions

The demonstration builds on lessons learned from Ukraine, emphasizing the need to enhance EW and stand-off capabilities to protect military personnel from drone and guided artillery attacks.

L3Harris claims that the upgraded T7 is a “strong choice” for such scenarios, as it features aerospace-grade shielding to guard against electromagnetic interference.

This capability also ensures the robot can transmit, locate, and disrupt enemy signals without being affected by its own, as the T7 has extremely low radiated emissions.

“The experiment enabled the team to successfully demonstrate the potential of the T7 … above and beyond explosive ordnance disposal missions,” L3Harris stated.

“The concept showed how CORVUS’ EW capabilities could be operated through the T7’s network, expanding the future roadmap of the robots even further.”
