Ukraine-Made Inguar Armored Vehicle Passes Tests, Receives First Supply Orders

The Ukrainian Inguar-3 Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle has completed its combat tests and received its first contracts from two military customers.

Developed by Kyiv-based tactical mobility firm Inguar Defence, the vehicle is assembled from scratch without the use of commercially available components.

The milestone follows the system’s prototype evaluations and approval for operation from the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence last year.

“2024 has been a year of rigorous testing for our company,” Inguar CEO and Co-Founder Artem Yushchuk said in an interview with local news agency Ukrinform.

“We’ve approached this responsibly, and overall, the vehicle has been subjected to about 10,000 kilometers (6,214 miles) of extreme testing.”

Yushchuk confirmed that assessments of the vehicle were conducted in partnership with the Ukrainian National Guard’s 12th Special Operations “Azov” Brigade in the Serebryansky forest and in Sumy.

“After receiving positive feedback from the initial Azov combat tests, we finally secured our first contract,” Yushchuk said. “The first batch of vehicles will be deployed on the front line in the second quarter of 2025.”

The Inguar-3 MRAP

The Inguar-3’s MRAP capability is supported by NATO-standard armor, protecting its crew from 7.62×51 caliber armor-piercing bullets, 155-millimeter shells fired at 60 meters (170 feet), an 8-kilogram (18-pounds) explosive, and anti-tank mine detonations.

Its cabin is fitted with blast-resistant seats, fire extinguishing systems, and specialized air filtration for chemical attacks.

Additionally, the 4×4 vehicle incorporates a tire inflation technology that enables movements through different terrain, heavy obstacles, and in the event of wheel damage.

The Inguar-3 is powered by a 356-horsepower Deutz engine and an Allison 6-speed automatic transmission.
