Poland has ordered 210 T700 engines from GE Aerospace to be equipped on the armed forces’ 96 AH-64E Apache Guardian helicopters, as part of a contract inked in August 2024.
The deal also covers the Polish aerospace firm Military Aviation Works in Dęblin providing maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services for the T700 engines that power the Boeing Apache choppers and the Sikorsky S-70i Black Hawks.
Additionally, the company will extend its MRO support for the CT7 engines installed on the Polish military’s Leonardo AW149 and AW101 aircraft.
Meanwhile, the Military University of Technology in Warsaw was tasked with training Polish technicians, military personnel, and Military Aviation Works employees working on the helo fleet and preparing future engineering staff for Warsaw’s armed forces.
According to a company press release, the collaboration ensures “supply security for all platforms powered by the T700/CT7 engine line. The agreement also paves the way for future partnerships in Poland on GE Aerospace’s combat engines like the F110, F414, and F404.”
T700/CT7
President and CEO of Defense & Systems at GE Aerospace Amy Gowder described the T700 as an “engine of choice for medium-sized helicopters with its exceptional performance, reliability, and durability,” with a 2,000 shaft horsepower and modularity.
The T700/CT7 family of turboshaft and turboprop engines was developed as a response to the US Army’s requirement for added power and improved field maintainability, now adopted by more than 50 countries.
In June last year, the US awarded GE Aerospace a contract to continue production of up to 950 T700 engines for the US armed forces and foreign military sales through 2029.
