German H145M Helos to Get L3Harris Targeting and Designating System

L3Harris will equip Germany’s new fleet of helicopters with its Wescam MX-15D electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) targeting and designating system.

As part of the initiative, L3Harris’ system will be integrated with the Airbus-made multi-role H145M rotorcraft, which Berlin ordered under a contract for up to 82 helicopters.

“This integration marks an exceptional step forward for L3Harris on the international stage, integrating our advanced and reliable imaging systems on a leading air combat platform,” said Tom Kirkland, VP of L3Harris’ Targeting and Sensor Systems division.

“We are proud to partner with Airbus Helicopters, contributing to one of the largest deliveries to the German armed forces.”

Features

The Wescam MX-15D system is designed to support intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, and target acquisition missions.

It incorporates advanced multi-spectral imaging, stabilization, and automatic video tracking technologies to enhance situational awareness for both manned and unmanned vehicles.

Key features include high-definition imaging from its EO and IR cameras, as well as short-wave infrared imaging capabilities.

The system supports a multi-spectral imaging technology comparing footage and information from various sensors for complex data analysis.

Additionally, the Wescam MX-15D includes a high-sensitivity color spotter and an HD low-light step-zoom spotter, maintaining efficiency across a range of lighting conditions.
