Canadian mobility developer Roshel has unveiled an ambulance variant of its Senator 4×4 Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle.

Called the Senator Medical Evacuation, the system is designed with the standard Ford F-550 chassis of its base model and incorporates an additional rear door to improve related operations.

The platform’s interior offers specialized capabilities to support tactical health experts in the field and will be able to carry four patients in a lying position.

Roshel’s announcement followed the company’s September launch of its Captain armored personnel carrier based on the Toyota Land Cruiser 70.

“Wrapping up 2024, Roshel Smart Armored Vehicles has two new models — the Senator Medical Evacuation and the Captain — now in full production,” Roshel CEO Roman Shimonov stated.

“With hundreds of units already contracted, deliveries are underway and will continue through the end of the year.”

“These vehicles showcase our ability to address the diverse needs of clients across regions with scalable, tailored solutions.”

The Senator MRAP

Roshel’s Senator line is fitted with NATO-compliant armor that can endure rifle bullets, 155-millimeter artillery, multi-directional mines, and charged TNT.

The vehicle’s main feature is its V-shaped under-chassis structure, which supports its MRAP functionality, redirecting shock waves and shrapnel to the sides and away from the system in the event of ground-based explosions.

The Senator is powered by a 10-speed automatic transmission and a 330-horsepower, 6.7-liter engine.

Canadian Armored Vehicles in Ukraine

Ukraine’s defense ministry in September approved the deployment of the Ontario-based company’s proprietary Senator platform for its armed forces.

The adoption was supported by the Canadian government’s Ukrainian military aid in 2023, which included shipping up to 200 armored vehicles to Kyiv in response to Russia’s invasion.
