Raytheon has completed a design review for its Advanced Electronic Warfare (ADVEW) system prototype for the US Navy’s F/A-18 E/F Super Hornet fleet.

The ADVEW system is intended to replace the aircraft’s current electronic warfare components under an $80 million contract signed last year.

Specifically, the system is being developed as a potential replacement for the fleet’s AN/ALQ-214 Integrated Defensive Electronic Countermeasure and AN/ALR-67(V)3 Radar Warning Receiver, aiming to enhance threat detection capabilities.

The review “demonstrates our multi-function approach of integrating electronic support and electronic attack to revolutionize modern electronic warfare systems,” said Bryan Rosselli, President of Advanced Products & Solutions at Raytheon.

“Our solution provides the needed capabilities to defeat the ever-evolving threats of the world’s most dangerous adversaries now and well into the future.”

The program will now enter the next phase, involving testing activities in a US government laboratory to ensure compliance with Open Mission Systems standards.

Advanced Electronic Warfare

Raytheon has utilized digital and model-based systems engineering tools to enhance the Super Hornet’s operational effectiveness.

The company simplified system integration throughout development, mitigating risks during rapid deployment onto the aircraft.

Additionally, Raytheon’s design approach leverages a shared material base and streamlined manufacturing processes, which help to lower costs and accelerate production timelines.
