The US State Department has authorized a potential $125 million foreign military sale to the UK for a High Gain Measurement System (HGMS).
The HGMS is a specialized radar system designed for precise measurement and analysis of radar cross-section data, commonly used in aerospace, defense, and stealth technology development.
London’s request includes HGMS components such as acoustic sensors, off-aspect mid-frequency line arrays, cables, testing hardware and software, anchoring equipment, and spare parts.
Additional support covers training, integration assistance, and logistics.
American firm Leidos, based in Reston, Virginia, is the designated contractor.
The sale “will support the foreign policy and national security objectives of the US by improving the security of a key NATO Ally that is an important force for political stability and economic progress in Europe,” stated the Defense Security Cooperation Agency.
‘From Seafloor to Cyberspace’
Leidos specializes in developing advanced technologies for maritime and multi-domain operations.
Its expertise includes autonomous systems, network solutions, ship design, hypersonic technologies, and integrated defense.
Recent contracts include a $331 million award in October to enhance the US Army’s Global Unified Network, and a $248 million agreement, also in October, to support the Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific in advancing intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance systems, including the development of multi-sensor underwater and surface drones.
