The Austrian Armed Forces has signed a contract with Systematic Defence to acquire the SitaWare Headquarters and SitaWare Frontline command-and-control (C2) software.
These latest capabilities modernize the European country’s military for enhanced communication from headquarters to the frontline, in addition to increasing interoperability with NATO, which procured the same C2 software.
“This contract demonstrates Austria’s commitment to enhancing its operational efficiency and interoperability. With Austria, all countries in the DACH region are now finally using SitaWare for command and control,” Managing Director of Systematic’s German subsidiary, Sven Trusch, said.
Trusch was referring to DACH, or the Central European area, including Austria, Switzerland, and Germany, which acquired the C2 software for its future F-126 frigates.
Further, the Danish company is setting up a new office in Vienna to better support its DACH customers.
SitaWare Headquarters
As its name suggests, the SitaWare Headquarters is used by all levels of command for a comprehensive battlefield overview across all domains.
It has an open architecture that allows seamless integration and customization into legacy and third-party platforms.
For situational awareness, operators can visualize the Joint Common Operational Picture, Air Control Order, Air Tasking Order, and other specific features.
Various types of maps can also be accessed, including satellite, vector, and tile, and the ground terrain is available in 2D and 3D versions.
The sea, weather, and environmental conditions are also accessible.
As a C2 capability, the SitaWare Headquarters supports collaborative planning and information sharing across different levels and organizations.
SitaWare Frontline
Meanwhile, the Frontline version is designed for both commanders and soldiers on the ground, providing real-time tracking and planning information.
Commanders can access comprehensive situational awareness and friendly force tracking, in addition to advanced planning and geo-analysis tools, video livestreams, and integrated chat, among others.
It works well with other SitaWare software for a unified C2 capability and can transmit large volumes of data even in challenging conditions through the SitaWare Tactical Communication protocol.
