The Croatian government has approved the purchase of six Bayraktar TB2 drones in a deal worth $95 million.
Delivery is scheduled for 2026 and includes a command and control center, an initial set of spare parts sufficient for 4,000 flight hours, and training, Anadolu Agency reported.
“The Armed Forces of the Republic of Croatia expressed the need for priority and urgent procurement of the armed Bayraktar TB2 system, and the company submitted an informative offer and a proposal for the Bayraktar TB2 configuration based on the ‘total package’ model,” the Turkish news outlet quoted Croatian Defense Minister Ivan Anusic as saying.
“The configuration is based on six aircraft equipped with electro-optical cameras for reconnaissance, including the initial set of weapons, and ensures double radio coverage of the entire territory of Croatia in stationary and mobile version.”
Bayraktar TB2
The TB2 is a medium-altitude, long endurance drone capable of intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance and attack roles.
It has a range of more than 150 kilometers (93.2 miles), a maximum altitude of 25,000 feet (7.6 kilometers), and can fly at up to 120 knots (222 kilometers/138 miles per hour).
The platform’s endurance is 27 hours and its payload capacity is 150 kilograms (330 pounds).
Croatia’s Additional Defense Purchases
The purchase is part of wider military modernization, including the procurement of Leopard 2 A8 tanks and the maintenance of its Rafale fighter jets, Anusic wrote on X.
Before that, the Croatian parliamentary committee for defense approved the purchase of eight HIMARS multiple rocket launcher systems from the US for nearly $290 million after the US State Department had earlier greenlit the sale.
