Ukraine Approves Military Use of ‘Pernach’ Remote Weapon Station

The Ukrainian Ministry of Defence has officially authorized the operational deployment of the domestically-built “Pernach” remotely controlled weapon station (RCWS) for its armed forces.

Equipped with a 7.62mm turret-mounted machine gun, the system allows operators to engage enemy forces from a safe location.

It features a control console for remote operations, along with first-person view goggles that provide real-time video feed from the Pernach’s camera.

The RCWS is compatible with a variety of armored vehicles and fixed platforms, enabling seamless deployment across different military settings.

Once deployed, the Pernach will act as a force multiplier, significantly boosting the operational effectiveness of Ukrainian forces and improving their ability to counter Russian military strengths.

Exceptional Versatility

The Pernach RCWS boasts a modular design that allows it to be customized depending on mission requirements.

It can integrate a range of weaponry, including grenade launchers and anti-tank missiles, offering soldiers exceptional versatility on the battlefield.

According to the Ukrainian defense ministry, the Pernach’s adaptability makes it effective against both ground and aerial targets.

Accelerating Domestic Weapons Deployment

The induction of the Pernach into military service highlights Ukraine’s commitment to strengthening its defense capabilities with locally developed weaponry.

In September, the defense ministry approved the supply of robotic personnel and cargo transporters to the military.

It also reported that the country inducted 480 new weapons and military equipment in the first six months of 2024, including various types of ammunition, electronic warfare systems, and demining tools.
