Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense has officially authorized its armed forces to use the Safari HG-105M semi-automatic shotgun.
This compact weapon is designed for use in close combat and neutralizing enemy first-person view (FPV) drones, especially when stocked with buckshot-loaded cartridges.
Weighing around 4 kilograms (8.8 pounds), it has a bullpup configuration that shortens its overall length while maintaining a full-length barrel and reduces fatigue on the shooter during prolonged use.
It is equipped with a gas-piston mechanism, chambered for 12-gauge ammunition, and has a magazine capacity of 5 or 10 rounds.
This is among the latest weapons with drone-countering capabilities that Kyiv has integrated during its ongoing armed conflict with Russia in response to regular drone and missile attacks.
Earlier this month, the country’s Leopard main battle tanks were fitted with 430-kilogram (947-pound) steel grid screens to protect against FPV drones.
Additionally, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called upon Western allies for a NATO invitation as Moscow continues to violate the country’s airspace with missiles and drones.
