Hensoldt has introduced three new optronic systems for the Leopard 2A8 tank, Puma, and Boxer fighting vehicles to improve targeting in challenging conditions.
The German firm combined optical technologies with innovative sensor and camera systems to further enhance reconnaissance and targeting accuracy.
These new systems comply with NATO standards for integration with existing platforms and operational readiness, the company stated.
“In view of the current threat situation, modern combat operations require not only high-performance digital systems, but also secured production capacities,” head of Hensoldt’s Optronics & Land Solutions division Tanya Altmann said.
“We are meeting these challenges by developing future-proof supply chains and scaling production capacities.”
Features
The ATTICA GL Digital is a thermal imaging system designed for the Leopard 2A8, enabling dynamic target identification.
It delivers high image quality in both medium and long-wave infrared ranges and converts heat signatures into visual images.
Meanwhile, the PERI RTWL Digital periscope is a stabilized system that accurately detects targets.
It enhances the commander’s sensor performance with advanced cameras and video processing capabilities.
Lastly, the WAO Digital weapon station, developed for the Puma and Boxer, is a long-range electro-optical system featuring a high-resolution infrared sensor.
An integrated stabilizer provides the sensor with continuous zoom capabilities.
“With these technologies, Hensoldt ensures that the armed forces maintain information and effect superiority in the area of operations,” Atlmann concluded.
