The US Marine Corps has awarded Ultra Intelligence & Communications (I&C) a contract to support the service’s command and control capability.

The $39-million contract will deliver the Texas-based company’s proprietary Air Defense Systems Integrator (ADSI) solution as the force’s primary Common Aviation Command and Control System or CAC2S.

Alongside the ADSI’s integration into multiple tactical data link gateways, Ultra will provide related engineering services, program management, cyber incident reporting, and product support.

Addressing ‘Evolving Demands’

Ultra said that ADSI is an “interoperable tactical and mission functionality” platform that will assist the US Marine Corps in its changing requirements across varying domains.

The technology will perform as a modern Marine Air Command and Control component by combining cross-functional devices including sensors and tactical data links into a single station.

Once operational, ADSI is expected to sustain a “robust and fully supported implementation of the CAC2S” between leaders, Air-Ground Task Forces, and Expeditionary Units.

“As the pioneer of the first joint-certified virtual machine family of tactical data link gateways, Ultra I&C has consistently advanced this innovative approach to interoperability,” Ultra I&C C2IE Division President Bradford Powell stated.

“Our team is committed to enhancing the Marines’ digital interoperability initiatives to meet the evolving demands of the global threat environment.”

Supporting Virtual ADSI

Ultra won a similar award worth $39.92 million in July 2019 for the upgrade and maintenance of the US Marine Corps’ Virtual Air Defense Systems Integrator.

The firm received $2.18 million in the five-year project’s initial phase.
