Northrop to Supply Next-Gen Intelligent Jammers to US Navy in $162M Deal

Northrop Grumman has been awarded a contract valued at up to $161 million to produce JCREW/DRAKE 2.0 intelligent jamming systems for the US Navy.

JCREW/DRAKE 2.0 is a next-generation counter-drone and counter-improvised explosive device (IED) solution designed to provide 360-degree protection to warfighters on land, at sea, and in the air.

It utilizes intelligent jamming techniques to selectively disrupt threats while preserving friendly communications.

The system features enhanced signal processing, instantaneous bandwidth, an advanced user interface, and extended frequency range.

It remains unclear how many JCREW/DRAKE 2.0 systems are being procured under the deal.

“JCREW/DRAKE continues to prove itself as a critical component in protecting our warfighters while maintaining the strategic advantage needed to succeed across the modern battlefield,” Northrop VP for communications solutions Gordie Russell noted.

Offering Layered Defense

JCREW/DRAKE 2.0 is capable of utilizing active, reactive, and protocol-based jamming techniques to neutralize drone and IED threats.

It provides an option to view threat features and locations on a ruggedized tablet.

It also has the ability to quickly switch between counter-drone and counter-IED mode without requiring software changes or modifications.

The system boasts an open and integrated architecture, enabling seamless upgrades to meet new operational requirements.

It can operate independently or integrate with command-and-control systems to deliver a layered defense for the military.

JCREW/DRAKE 2.0 is compatible with Northrop’s Forward Area Air Defense Command and Control (FAAD C2).
