The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) has sought to procure 300 large first-person view (FPV) drones for Ukraine.

A recently issued MoD procurement tender called for up to 15 batches of FPV drones, consisting of 20 drones each, UK Defence Journal reported, citing the procurement notice.

It includes both combat and reconnaissance drones, with a payload of over 5 kilograms (11 pounds).

The 2-million-pound ($2.68 million) procurement intends to meet “urgent operational needs within the Drone Capability Coalition” to ensure a stable drone supply for Ukraine.

Following testing, a larger order of up to 500 drones per month could be considered, UK Defence Journal added.

Drone Capability Coalition

The Latvia-proposed initiative was launched in February 2024, with the aim of providing Ukraine with an upper hand in drone warfare against Russian forces.

The UK-coordinated coalition supports drone manufacturing in the West and promotes capability upgrades within the group, which consists of 14 other members.

London announced it would transfer a total of 10,000 drones to Ukraine through the coalition, while Latvia has announced and delivered several batches of drones to Ukraine.
