INVISIO has clinched a 170 million Swedish krona ($16.63 million) contract to deliver communication and hearing protection solutions to the US Department of Defense.

It comprises Racal Acoustics RA5001 RAPTOR and RA4000 Magna™ high-noise headsets for combat vehicles, with most of the delivery taking place this year.

The contract comes after lengthy and rigorous testing according to military standards and requirements, the Swedish firm said.

RA4000 Magna

The RA4000 digital headset is Racal Acoustics’ most recently developed product, offering hearing protection, communications intelligibility, and situational awareness.

It has an active noise reduction single number rating of 36 decibels and features a rugged design, built-in power, and a weight of 650 grams (23 ounces).

Additional features include a modular design allowing mission-specific upgrades and extended product life.

RA5001 Raptor

The battle-proven RA5001 delivers a mix of passive and active noise reduction in a comfortable and rugged design, weighing only 499 grams (17.6 ounces).

It is ideal for use with both commercial and military intercom systems within vehicles, shelters, and tactical operations centers.

“This is another impressive victory for Racal Acoustics branded solutions,” INVISIO CEO Lars Hojgard Hansen said.

“There is no doubt that these solutions are market-leading in extremely noisy vehicle environments. This order also clearly exemplifies the increased activity level we are now observing in the market for heavy military vehicles and in general.”
