Ukraine to Receive Lithuanian Military Aid

The Lithuanian government has announced new military aid to support Ukraine’s defense against Russia’s continuing invasion.

The package includes tactical equipment, mobile systems, counter-drone systems, and other older capabilities sourced from the Lithuanian Armed Forces stockpile.

Vilnius said that the package will include 14 M113 armored personnel carriers, short-range air defense systems, drone jammers, and military trailers.

Additional articles include 20-ton telescopic loaders, all-terrain vehicles with spare parts, wheeled loaders, handheld arms and related accessories, ammunition, and smoke screens.

The tranche is scheduled to be shipped to Kyiv this month.

Lithuania’s defense agency wrote that the aid increases the country’s total investment for the effort to approximately 641 million euros ($699.9 million).

“We have, we are and we will continue helping Ukraine fight the aggressor,” Lithuanian Defence Minister Laurynas Kasčiūnas stated.

“Lithuania will soon hand over to Ukraine the critically needed short-range air defence systems as a contribution to the German, US and French-led Air and Missile Defense Capability Coalition, [of which] Lithuania is a part.”

“We will also transfer more equipment, systems and weapons needed on the battlefield on a daily basis. Our assistance is an investment in our own security.”
