Textron’s King Air 260 military trainer aircraft is making its much-awaited European debut at the Farnborough International Airshow in England.
The unveiling will offer military delegations, members of the media, and aviation enthusiasts a first look at the “next-generation” aircraft.
According to company VP Bob Gibbs, the presence of the King Air 260 in a European defense expo highlights its readiness to support the modernization of militaries worldwide.
“The Beechcraft King Air 260 provides an excellent value for military multi-engine training due to its acquisition and operation cost, combined with excellent speed, range, and payload capacity,” he said.
The aircraft will be on display at the airshow until July 26.
Modernizing Aircrew Training
Known in the US as the T-54A, the King Air 260 is designed to enhance the training experience of military pilots.
It reportedly aligns closely with future fleet aircraft, with modern avionics and automation features to better prepare students for the complexities of today’s aviation.
The trainer also features a tactical air navigation system, angle of attack, ultra-high frequency radio, digital audio system, and engine trend monitoring system.
Its pressurized cockpit has three seats: two for student pilots and one for an instructor.
Earlier this year, the US Navy took delivery of the first two of 64 Beechcraft King Air 260s ordered from Textron in 2023.
Canada has also announced it will acquire an undisclosed number of the aircraft for the Royal Canadian Air Force.
