Airbus has awarded Safran Helicopters a support-by-the-hour contract for the engines powering the German military’s new fleet of Airbus H145M helicopters.

Both the German military’s H145 and H145M helicopters are powered by the Arriel 2E.

The contract includes in-service support as well as maintenance, repair, and overhaul for more than 124 Arriel 2E engines from service induction until 2030.

Moreover, it provides visibility of engine operating costs and streamlines financial flows while providing greater flexibility for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance operations.

Consolidation of Operational Capability

Safran Helicopter Engines Germany will manage the contract, which monitors and supports 300 helicopter operators across Germany, Northern Europe, Eastern Europe, and Central Asia.

“Through this contract, we are further consolidating our support offer to German forces,” Safran Executive VP of Support and Services Mathieu Albert said.

“Whether through the [support-by-the-hour] contract for the H145 fleet, or the Global Support Package contract for the NH90 fleet, we support the German forces with the best possible service models, which maximize equipment availability while optimizing costs.”
