Senop Unveils Carl-Gustaf Advanced Fire Control System

Finnish company Senop unveiled its cutting-edge Advanced Fire Control Device Thermal Imager (AFCD TI) earlier this month.

The compact device is designed for the Carl-Gustaf M3 and M4 weapon systems, consisting of a day camera, thermal camera, laser rangefinder, and ballistic calculation.

“Carl-Gustaf is a real multi-tool on the battlefield and AFCD TI raises the capability of the system to the next level,” Senop CEO Aki Korhonen explained.

All-in-One System

According to Senop, the AFCD TI is the first Carl-Gustaf intelligent sight in the world that does both ballistic and lead calculation and has both thermal and day cameras, all in one casing.

It offers the option of a day camera, a thermal camera, or a combined fusion image for detection and identification, unlike other systems that use the traditional day sight and clip-on night optics.

“The development of AFCD TI has been carried out in close cooperation with Saab professionals, and with the latest software updates, among other things, the AFCD TI is currently the best that can be found on the market in terms of intelligent sights,” head of product management Antti Lommi said.

Enhances Strike Rate

It provides a combination of state-of-the-art optronics, ballistic calculation, and communication with most modern rounds, enhancing the first round hit probability for both moving and stationary targets, the Finnish optronics developer claims.

“Programming of the new HE 448 round is also possible with AFCD TI. The ballistics of new ammunition can be easily updated to the AFCD TI as well,” Lommi said.

Moreover, it is the lightest available fire control system for the Carl-Gustaf weapons, weighing just 1.7 kilograms (3.74 pounds).
