Lithuania has announced a 10-million-euro ($11 million) budget to be allocated for the rehabilitation of Ukrainian soldiers.

The donation, which will come from Vilnius’ Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid program, will be used to fund three major projects in the war-torn country.

It will focus on the reconstruction of the Spinal Injuries Rehabilitation Center at Dnipro State University, as well as the Neskoreni “Unbroken” Ward Rehabilitation Center in Briukhovychi, western Ukraine.

Vilnius will also collaborate with local institutions and organizations engaged with ongoing rehab and reintegration missions to strengthen and develop their services and shoulder their administrative expenses.

All three projects are expected to run for 24 months.

Aiding Ukraine in the War

In April, Lithuania announced a 15-million-euro ($16 million) donation to establish a rehabilitation program for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, announcing that it will allocate the funds for hospital reconstruction and medical specialist training.

Work for the initiative will commence in Lviv, Dnipro, and Zhytomyr, three cities neighboring Kyiv.

So far, Lithuania has provided more than 1 billion euros ($1.1 billion) in aid, including anti-drone equipment and missile systems, to support the country in the ongoing Russo-Ukrainian war.
