Maxar, Lockheed to Streamline F-35 Simulator Delivery
Maxar Intelligence has signed a deal with Lockheed Martin to expedite delivery of the F-35 Full Mission Simulator (FMS) flight simulation and training system.
The agreement establishes pricing, licensing, and requirements for various Maxar products, including Dynamic basemaps and the Precision3D Data Suite, which go hand-in-hand in generating high-resolution images and high-accuracy representations of Earth for the FMS.
System standardization will enable F-35 customers to begin training and mission preparedness operations faster.
Current operators of the F-35 FMS include Italy, Japan, and Norway.
Promoting Virtual Tech
Maxar currently serves as one of the US’ main partners in developing virtual training systems, offering around 90 percent of the US government’s foundational geospatial intelligence for national security and troop safety.
Its more recent projects include a deal with the US Army signed in March to bolster its One World Terrain virtual simulator prototype.
The simulator is a key component of the force’s Synthetic Training Environment, a program used to combine virtual settings with live training for more advanced drills.
The tech group has been involved with the One World Terrain program since 2019.
