UK defense solutions provider Babcock has signed a contract to provide ground-based support solutions for the French military’s mainland and overseas airfields.
The agreement will sustain and manage over 2,500 pieces of equipment categorized as vital assets for airfield operations under the French Ministry of Defence’s Directorate of Aeronautical Maintenance.
The project will also supply 1,200 spare parts and associated equipment for the armed forces.
For the effort, Babcock will invest in critical systems, human resources, and infrastructure, boosting the firm’s strategic business in the country.
Associated works for the contract will be facilitated for seven years, the company wrote.
“We are proud to be a strategic partner to the Ministry of Defence in France,” Babcock France CEO Pierre Basquin stated.
“With this new contract we will contribute to the national security in the country by keeping the ground support equipment of our Armed Forces ready to respond.”
Operations and Air Transit Support
The latest contract follows an award in December 2022 from the aeronautical maintenance agency to provide similar services.
As part of the 10-year program, Babcock will deliver global support for the French military’s existing aircraft operations and air transit capabilities.
The first half of 2023 saw the firm launch initial support missions at five military bases for the contract.
Truck technicians were also deployed to 26 domestic and international French Air Force, Army, and Navy installations.
