Saab has been tapped to integrate its sight-and-fire control system into CV90 combat vehicles for the Czech Republic.

The contract, awarded by vehicle manufacturer BAE Systems, is valued at 970 million Swedish kroner ($89.2 million).

According to the Swedish firm, the capability provides tanks and combat vehicles with a high hit probability against ground and aerial targets.

Its components are designed to assist a weapon regardless of whether the target is moving or not.

“The new order further underlines our great collaboration with BAE Systems Hägglunds as well as our ability to scale up production,” Saab official Carl-Johan Bergholm said.

Work for the contract is expected to be complete by 2029.

Features

According to Saab, its sight-and-fire control system has an operational range of 5,000 meters (16,404 feet) on land and 2,000 meters (6,562 feet) in the air.

It allows the large deflection angles necessary for effectively combating fast-moving aircraft.

Additionally, the system can be equipped with a wide range of third-generation thermal imagers to support night and all-weather operations.

The system is currently in service in Sweden, Switzerland, Norway, the Netherlands, Finland, Estonia, and Denmark.
