Operation, Maintenance Training
The trainees included experienced artillerymen and those with minimal to zero military experience, Forces Network wrote, citing the UK Ministry of Defence.
The Royal Regiment of Artillery instructors taught the soldiers how to operate and maintain the howitzer in combat during the course.
The Royal School of Artillery program involved over 1,000 UK military personnel.
Two Batches Already Trained
Two previous batches of Ukrainian soldiers had already been trained on the 155mm gun, which has a range of up to 25 kilometers (15.5 miles).
The last of the two batches wrapped up their three weeks of intensive training in April and have been deployed in combat.
The UK has promised to send 24 AS90s to Ukraine as part of military assistance to help the country fight against Russia’s invasion.
The country provided 2.3 billion pounds ($2.94 billion) in military aid to Ukraine in 2022 and has promised to match the amount this year also.
