Curtiss-Wright to Provide Propulsion Equipment for US Navy Submarines, Aircraft Carriers

Curtiss-Wright has received a $250-million contract to supply propulsion equipment for the US Navy Virginia-class nuclear attack submarine, Columbia-class submarine, and Ford-class aircraft carrier programs.

The agreement supports ship construction, spare parts, and submarine back-fit procurements that are being facilitated in partnership with General Dynamics Electric Boat and Bechtel Plant Machinery.

The order stipulates the delivery of propulsion valves, control systems, pumps, and advanced instrumentation for the vessels.

Work for the mult-fleet programs has begun at Curtiss-Wright’s Defense Electronics and Naval & Power sites in New York and Pennsylvania.

Engineering and manufacturing will proceed until 2028.

“Curtiss-Wright is pleased to have been awarded these important naval defense contracts, building upon our long-standing relationship with the US Nuclear Navy and reflecting our ongoing support of these critical naval defense platforms, which continue to receive strong Congressional support,” Curtiss-Wright CEO Lynn Bamford stated.

“We look forward to delivering the most advanced, reliable and vital technologies and remain well-positioned to benefit from the continued expansion of our U.S. naval fleet.”

Recent US Defense Programs With Curtiss-Wright

Curtiss-Wright received an order in June to hand over flight test instrumentation equipment for the US defense’s F-35 modernization program.

In March, the US Marine Corps contracted the company to deliver a network platform for the service’s wideband satellite expeditionary program.

In February, the firm received contracts to modernize the US Navy’s identification friend-or-foe capabilities and the US Air Force’s aircraft flight test data collector.
