CAE and KF Aerospace joint venture SkyAlyne has been selected to manage the Royal Canadian Air Force’s Future Aircrew Training (FAcT) Program.
Under the agreement, SkyAlyne will support FAcT classroom instruction, simulation, live flight training, and related in-service activities.
The firm will also lead equipment upgrades, new training aircraft fleets, and the reconstruction of program facilities.
Future works will replace and expand the current training services provided in two separate contracts previously signed with SkyAlyne’s parent companies and in-house training delivered by the air force.
Operations will continue at Portage la Prairie (Southport) and Winnipeg, Manitoba, and Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.
Canada will award the agreement to SkyAlyne in 2024. The contract period is anticipated to exceed 20 years.

Defending Against Current and Emerging Threats
FAcT encompasses all training to sustain the air force’s combat and multi-purpose capability.
Personnel that will undergo FAcT include military pilots, air combat systems officers, and airborne electronic sensor operators.
“It is critical that current and future Royal Canadian Air Force pilots have the most advanced training and equipment available to ensure they can deliver on the important work that we ask of them,” Canadian Defence Minister Anita Anand said.
“This program will help ensure Canada can continue to defend North America, enhance our Arctic sovereignty and meet our NATO and NORAD obligations in the face of current and emerging threats.”
