US Taps DroneShield for Anti-Drone Guns

An undisclosed US government agency has contracted Australian tech firm DroneShield to supply counter-drone weapons and associated services.

The order is valued at $33 million.

According to DroneShield CEO Matt McCrann, the contract reflects Washington’s growing trust and confidence in the company’s anti-drone solutions.

“We’re proud of our team’s efforts, the increasing value we’ve delivered to our customers worldwide, and are excited about continuing to support and grow the business as we look towards 2024 and beyond,” he said.

The company did not disclose the specific type of weapon to be supplied or the number of units under order.

DroneShield’s Anti-Drone Solution

DroneShield manufactures the DroneGun Tactical counter-drone weapon system.

Designed for two hand operation, the gun features an intuitive control panel user interface to select and engage targets.

It disrupts the signal of hostile drones, causing them to lose contact with their operators or return to their pre-programmed starting point.

The DroneGun has an effective range of two kilometers (1.25 miles) and requires minimal technical training to set up and operate.
