The US Air Force Life Cycle Management Center has selected Collins Aerospace for a $32.5-billion ceiling award seeking new aviation training solutions for the service.

The Training Systems Acquisition program was launched to procure, develop, test, integrate, and sustain new training platforms to upskill US airborne warfighters and associated personnel in international operating locations.

For the effort, Collins will evaluate emerging tools and technologies across the air force’s aircraft and non-aircraft training, system-specific simulation, and maintenance capabilities.

The company will perform work alongside 36 other firms until 2033.

“By leveraging our avionics systems development and existing training systems designs, Collins can deliver integrated simulation solutions to enhance mission effectiveness,” Collins Aerospace Simulation and Training Solutions Senior Director Sharon Tabori explained.

“Our proven ability to provide secure, high fidelity and cost-effective training is validated by our participation in this next round of US Air Force training development.”

“In a situation where speed and cost are considerations, Collins is prepared to deliver training systems across a continuum, including hardware and software solutions.”

Collins in US Navy Aerial Combat Training

Separately, Collins in May started the full-rate production of a new air combat training solution for the US Navy.

This platform includes aerial and ground subsystems supporting training and fielding activities associated with the navy’s existing fighter jets.

It uses virtual, live, and constructive approaches that serve as upgrades from the service’s legacy air combat maneuvering trainers.

The system will support preparations in mobile and fixed naval locations worldwide upon delivery.
