Northrop Grumman has deployed an Air Defense Reconfigurable Trainer to prepare Polish warfighters for the new Integrated Battle Command System (IBCS).
Delivered two years ahead of schedule, Northrop’s IBCS provides “transformational” integrated command and control capabilities during combat.
The $713-million IBCS contract was signed in 2019 to support Poland’s ongoing effort to optimize its air and missile defense assets.
The first IBCS unit was shipped to the country in July 2022, while the key unit was delivered in May 2023.
Poland is the first US ally to operate the IBCS since production.
“IBCS implements a modular, open and scalable architecture that is foundational to integrating available assets in the battlespace, regardless of source, service or domain onto a common fire control network,” Northrop Grumman said.
“By enabling this high level of network integration, the warfighter is given unprecedented time to make accurate decisions.”
A ‘Complete Package’
According to the company, the Air Defense Reconfigurable Trainer will provide Polish soldiers with different materials related to IBCS operations and configurations to support multiple missions.
Furthermore, the system allows in-person and self-paced sustainment training for efficient timelines and cost-effective sessions.
The trainer is built with similar materials used to develop the US Army’s own equipment platform.
“Coupling our innovative individual skills trainer with IBCS creates a complete package for the US Army and allies to prepare them for tomorrow’s multi-domain battlefield,” Northrop Grumman Vice President and General Manager Rebecca Torzone said.
“With this IBCS package, Poland is modernizing their air and missile defense forces to enhance the safety and security of their country for years to come.”
