Norway, Denmark to Send 9,000 Artillery Rounds to Ukraine

Norway and Denmark have agreed to provide Ukraine with 9,000 artillery rounds to defend against the Russian invasion.

Under the package, Norway will donate shells, while Denmark will hand over propellant charges and fuze equipment.

The ammunition includes 7,000 rounds from Norway’s own stocks that were already sent to Ukraine.

The two governments sent similar military aid to Ukraine in March. It included 8,000 NATO-standard rounds of artillery and associated resources to replenish loads of 19 Caesar self-propelled howitzers donated by the Danish government.

‘Demonstrating Support’

Throughout Ukraine’s defense against Russia, Oslo has donated 20,000 rounds of artillery to Kyiv.

The latest military aid increases Norway’s artillery round donation to 27,000 and 17,000 in collaboration with Denmark.

“Ukraine has an urgent need for artillery ammunition. We have therefore decided to join forces with Denmark for a new donation, so that Ukraine receives the ammunition as quickly as possible,” Norwegian Defence Minister Bjørn Arild Gram stated.

“It is important that we continue to stand together in demonstrating our support of Ukraine. Norway will continue to support Ukraine against the Russian invasion forces as long as it is needed.”

Additional Rounds from Denmark

After the 9,000-round package, Denmark plans to deliver another 1,500 complete artillery rounds and 500 shells to Ukraine.

“Ukraine still has an urgent need for ammunition in its fight against Russia,” Acting Danish Defence Minister Troels Lund Poulsen explained.

“Denmark, together with other EU and NATO countries, is in the process of accommodating a number of different measures.”
