Boeing and ST Engineering have agreed to jointly explore sustainment projects supporting the P-8A Poseidon maritime surveillance and patrol aircraft.

Under the partnership, the firms will identify areas of work in local parts distribution, systems integration, sustainment, and training to enhance the P-8A’s capabilities.

The team will also explore opportunities, including the bilateral development of a P-8 service center in Singapore and personnel expansion to support engineering and maintenance services.

The P-8A Poseidon

The P-8A long-range, multi-mission aircraft was designed for “unmatched” intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, anti-submarine and anti-air warfare, and humanitarian assistance missions.

Developed as a military variant of the Next-Generation 737-800 aircraft, the P-8 utilizes an advanced mission system to secure “performance and reliability” and sustain interoperability in future combat.

Boeing has delivered 160 P-8s to military customers globally, completing over 600,000 flight hours to date.

P-8 users include the US Navy, UK Royal Air Force, German Navy, Royal Norwegian Air Force, Royal Australian Air Force, Royal New Zealand Air Force, and the Republic of Korea Navy.

Recent Boeing P-8A Contracts

Earlier this year, Boeing signed a $6 billion contract to deliver 14 P-8A Poseidon aircraft to Canada to replace the country’s aging CP-140 Aurora maritime patrol fleet.

The deal was offered to the government in 2022 to enhance the Royal Canadian Air Force’s maritime patrol capabilities.

In 2022, the firm delivered the first P-8A to New Zealand as part of a four-aircraft contract.

The same year, Boeing reached a milestone after achieving the 150th P-8A delivery to the US Navy and launched the first P-8A for South Korea under a $2.1 billion six-aircraft contract.
