Turkey’s FNSS Defence Systems has been contracted to provide capability enhancement to the Turkish Army’s ACV-15 advanced armored personnel carriers (AAPCs).
The agreement was signed to boost the vehicle’s performance and extend its service life for an additional 20 years.
According to the company, an undisclosed number of AAPCs will be fitted with modern subsystems to support more missions and help address sophisticated threats on the battlefield.
The capability enhancement will cover mobility, protection levels, electronic systems, situational awareness, and firepower.
The upgrade will be performed while maintaining the transport vehicles’ amphibious capabilities, FNSS explained.
“FNSS capability enhancement & life extension solution represents significant upgrades to an already proven and reliable military platform by extending the service life of the vehicles and ensuring that the vehicles remain an effective and relevant asset for modern combat requirements,” the company stated.

Additional Tweaks
To improve the lethality of the ACV-15, FNSS will install a dual gun remote-controlled weapon system with automatic fire suppression.
It will also integrate a close-range surveillance system, auxiliary power unit, and necessary engineering to support the gunshot detection system.
The contract also requires the company to provide complete engine and transmission overhauls to increase the vehicle’s reliability and durability.
“All these improvements … will increase mission capabilities while minimizing maintenance services during operational deployments,” FNSS stated.
