Elbit Systems has secured a $100 million contract to convert a commercial aircraft into an intelligence and electronic warfare (EW) asset for an international customer.
Under the agreement, the company will modernize the aircraft by equipping it with advanced intelligence mission suites and related electronic warfare capabilities.
The approach gives the aircraft a more detailed view of an operational environment generated through signal and visual intelligence sensors.
The aircraft will also have advanced self-protection and immune satellite navigation systems.
The upgraded aircraft is expected to bolster the customer’s ability to utilize electronic countermeasures against threats.
“This contract highlights our market-leading broad portfolio of ISTAR (intelligence surveillance target acquisition and reconnaissance) and EW capabilities and our ability to provide integrated solutions adapted to the customers’ needs,” Elbit Systems Electronic Warfare General Manager Oren Sabag stated.
“This airborne ISR and EW solution is relevant for today’s defense needs and designed to be ‘future ready’ and adaptable to the fast-evolving operational requirements of our customers.”
Elbit’s Recent Electronic Warfare Contracts
In March, Elbit was contracted to supply electronic warfare self-protection suites for a European NATO country. The solutions will be integrated into the customer’s upcoming fighter jet.
The same month, the company received a contract to equip six Romanian Armed Forces SA 330 Puma helicopters with an electronic warfare suite. The agreement will be facilitated for two years and features an option for six additional electronic warfare packages.
