EDGE segment Milrem Robotics has introduced its combat and firefighting ground drones to Latin America.

The drones are being showcased as part of the LAAD Defense and Security 2023 military technology expo in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Systems at the exhibit include the THeMIS Combat and the Multiscope Rescue unmanned ground vehicles.

The products are displayed alongside EDGE capabilities at event stand S.42.

THeMIS and Multiscope Rescue Drones

The THeMIS ground drone is equipped with a gyro-stabilized Guardian 2.0 remote weapon station developed by Escribano Mechanical & Engineering.

The vehicle uses advanced sensors and a fire control system to support dismounted infantry missions under various weather conditions.

Meanwhile, the Multiscope Rescue features plug-and-play capability for rescue-specific payloads. The drone is built with durability and flexibility to withstand extreme conditions and infiltrate areas that cannot be reached by larger vehicles or are risky for firefighters.

New Ground Vehicle Options for Latin America

The launch of Milrem’s drones in the region adds to the Estonian company’s existing partnership with 16 international customers and eight NATO countries.

“Milrem Robotics’ THeMIS has already proven to be a reliable and capable robotic system in many countries and in very different climate zones, from tropical environments to the Arctic,” Milrem Robotics CEO Kuldar Väärsi stated.

“We are proud to present future unmanned military solutions in Latin America, and ready to deliver our systems with full support for deployment in different roles.”
