Elbit Systems and Bohemia Interactive Simulations have teamed up to provide the British Army with “a more realistic and immersive training experience.”

For the project, Elbit upgraded its Interim Combined Arms Virtual Simulation (Deployable) or ICAVS(D) system currently used by the army with Bohemia’s Defence Virtual Simulation 2 software.

The software enables ICAVS(D) users to access an extensive content library, edit virtual terrain rapidly, and practice with environment maps anywhere in the world.

It provides simulated rehearsals for all levels of training to support decision-making and related military research and development.

Sustaining Advanced Technology for British Army

According to Elbit, the ICAVS(D) system is the first British Army training capability to be fully integrated with Bohemia’s Defence Virtual Simulation 2.

The combination was made possible through the simulator’s open architecture, which secures future lifecycle updates for the British military’s training capability.

“The integration of the ICAVS(D) simulator with Bohemia Interactive Simulations’ software ensures that UK service personnel can train using the most up to date technology.,” Elbit Systems UK CEO Martin Fausset stated.

“It is more important now than ever that the Armed Forces have access to the most advanced training systems available and that is achieved when industry innovates in an agile and flexible way. The open architecture of Elbit Systems UK’s combined arms virtual simulator demonstrates that.”

The deployable trainer entered service in 2022 and achieved full operational capability last September.

In 2023, the ICAVS(D) passed acceptance testing with Bohemia’s software to support the UK defense’s Land Warfare Centre and the Training and Simulation Systems Program.
