The US has approved a $150-million foreign military sale of AGM-114R2 Hellfire air-to-ground missiles to Poland.
The package covers up to 800 Hellfires and four M36 Hellfire Captive Air Training Missiles.
Alongside the weapons, the US will supply Poland with associated spare parts, publications, storage, repair, and logistics.
Poland will also receive Tactical Aviation Ground Munition Program Office and Joint Attack Munition Systems technical assistance for the AGM capability.
Lockheed Martin will serve as the principal contractor.
Enhancing Military Cooperation in Poland and Europe
According to the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA), the sale supports Poland’s efforts to establish a modernized military for national security against regional threats.
Simultaneously, defense articles to be delivered are expected to bolster interoperability between the US, Polish and allied defenses.
“This proposed sale will support the foreign policy goals and national security objectives of the United States by improving the security of a NATO ally that is a force for political stability and economic progress in Europe,” a statement from the DSCA said.
“Implementation of this proposed sale will not require the assignment of any additional US Government or contractor representatives to Poland.”
