Curtiss-Wright Corporation has received a $35-million contract to support the French Air and Space Force’s aircraft arresting systems.

An arresting system is a runway mechanism to stop an aircraft upon landing.

Under the 10-year agreement, Curtiss-Wright will supply logistics, analysis, repair, and maintenance of the service’s present arresting systems.

Work for the contract will be conducted at the company’s facility in Merpins, France.

Sustaining Partnership With France

According to Curtiss-Wright, the contract was awarded as part of France’s “verticalization initiative.”

Under the program, the government will source a single point of contact to provide services for similar equipment.

“Curtiss-Wright is pleased to have the opportunity to build upon our existing relationship with the French Air and Space Force to provide aftermarket and logistical services to support the availability and longevity of its arresting capability,” Curtiss-Wright Corporation’s Lynn Bamford stated.

“In addition, this contract aligns with our strategy to continue to provide more turn-key arresting and safety solutions to our defense customers.”

Arresting System Specialization

In 2022, Curtiss-Wright acquired Safran Aerosystems Arresting Company (SAA) for $240 million.

SAA employs around 140 personnel across Merpins and Aston, Pennsylvania.

Through the portfolio extension, Curtiss-Wright now offers retractable hook cable systems, absorbers, mobile systems, and net-stanchion systems supporting land-based and aircraft carrier vessel arresting systems.
