China Flaunts New Unmanned Vessel at NAVDEX 2023
China has showcased its new unmanned surface vessel (USV) during the Naval Defence & Maritime Security Exhibition (NAVDEX) 2023 in the United Arab Emirates.
Developed by Beijing-based defense firm Poly Technologies, the A45 USV features autonomous, obstacle avoidance, and swarm capabilities.
Its aluminum alloy hull and stealth shape make the ship difficult to detect within five kilometers (3.1 miles).
Additionally, the A45 USV is designed to be controlled by a console or a laptop to plan its route and send instructions for various tasks.
According to Poly Technologies, the state-of-the-art vessel can be armed to attack surface targets and traverse through sea state 4 or moderate waves.
The A45 has a maximum speed of 40 knots (74 kilometers/46 miles per hour) with a range up to 280 nautical miles (518 kilometers).
Additional Systems
China is also showcasing nearly 500 indigenous weapons and military systems at the defense expo.
Various main battle tanks, air defense missile systems, and stealth combat aircraft are being displayed at the China Defense pavilion, according to the country’s State Administration of Science, Technology, and Industry for National Defense.
The Chinese delegation also brought the LY-80B anti-aircraft missile system for international visitors to view.
The administration said it is using the opportunity to foster international cooperation and to show Beijing’s cutting-edge solutions to protect countries’ national interests.
