BAE Systems and Indian technology firm FSTC have announced that they will collaborate to develop a new training simulator for the Indian military.
The partnership was announced during Aero India 2023, an expo showcasing the country’s aerospace and defense capabilities.
A memorandum of understanding has been signed for the Twin Dome Full Mission Simulator for BAE Systems’ Hawk Mk132 fast jet trainer aircraft, according to local media outlets.
The technology reportedly provides a realistic environment for military pilots to train at a “higher standard,” preparing them for future battlefield scenarios.
FSTC will be responsible for integrating high-performance cockpit and visual display systems into the mission simulator.
The simulator is expected to be installed in the next 24 months.
‘Evolving Training’
BAE Systems managing director Ravi Nirgudkar said that the company is delighted to collaborate with the Indian defense industry to enhance the country’s military capabilities.
He boasted the firm’s “decades of experience” in working with various armed forces to evolve their pilot training to meet current and future operational requirements.
“Having worked with the Indian Air Force to support training of highly-trained pilots through Hawk, we can bring our knowledge of the world’s most proven fast jet trainer with our expertise in delivering training from the classroom to the frontline – and everything in between,” he stressed.
FSTC official Dilawer Singh Basraon also expressed his excitement to collaborate with the multinational defense company for an indigenously-developed training simulator.
He explained that the state-of-the-art technology would “assist our defense forces to train their pilots under various real-world scenarios.”
