The US Navy has awarded communications firm CAES a $38.5-million contract to support the service’s Surface Electronic Warfare Improvement Program (SEWIP).
SEWIP is a developmental effort to modernize the electronic warfare capability of the navy’s surface combatants.
Under the agreement, the firm will deliver spares, repair, and related engineering services for the antenna array panel assemblies under the program’s Block 2 phase.
Work for the contract will be conducted at CAES’ Lansdale site in Pennsylvania and is expected to be complete by 2028.
US Navy’s SEWIP Block 2 Program
The SEWIP program focuses on updating the US Navy’s AN/SLQ-32 electronic warfare platform, providing vessels with threat warnings, counter-targeting, and anti-ship missile security.
Block 2 has integrated new functions and defense systems into the system, including enhanced combat system interfaces and support receivers.

In the US, the company has been supporting the SEWIP Block 2 program for a decade.
CAES has provided the US Navy with antenna array panel assemblies and associated equipment to bolster the service’s passive electric counter surveillance structures.
