NATO and Turkish company STM have signed contracts to modernize the organization’s intelligence infrastructure in the Hague, the Netherlands.

Awarded by the NATO Communications and Information Agency, the agreements will see STM develop software to support the service’s intelligence collection, direction, processing, dissemination, and implementation.

The software will assist the organization in sustaining intelligence flow across international NATO military commands and installations.

STM will carry out work under the contracts over the next three and a half years.

NATO INTEL-FS2 Project

STM was selected during pre-award discussions in which NATO evaluated various proposals submitted by software companies within the alliance’s member nations.

“Through the INTEL-FS2 (Intelligence Functional Services Spiral 2) project, the NATO commands will have access to all kinds of intelligence data with modern user interfaces providing a high user experience,” STM General Manager Özgür Güleryüz stated.

“The entire project will be carried out by Turkish engineers. We established our project team of about 100 experts.”

Contribution to Turkey’s Export Projects

Alongside advantages for NATO intelligence, the project will provide STM with more experience in data analytics applications and related operational capabilities, according to the company.

“The experience and knowledge that we will gain through the project will mean that we will always be ready to meet the similar requirements of our national intelligence and security units,” Güleryüz said.

“It is a source of pride for us that INTEL-FS2 is one of the largest export projects that Türkiye has ever received from NATO related to software development. Our engineering experience in defence and informatics will continue contributing to Türkiye’s export targets through high-value-added products and solutions.”
