Computer storage solutions provider One Stop Systems (OSS) has received a $3 million contract to modernize the US Missile Defense Agency’s (MDA) radar simulation system.
The agreement will see OSS provide 4UV compute accelerator systems to enhance the agency’s AI-based radar simulators that improve missile accuracy and speed.
The initial tranche of 4UV systems was delivered in late 2022. The remaining systems are expected to be shipped in the first half of the year.
Bolstering MDA’s Missile Simulator
Each 4UV system will have eight PCIe Gen4 Tensor Core GPUs (graphics processing units) and the company’s proprietary Gen 4 PCI express-over-cable technology.
The capabilities will be employed across data centers and mobile radar systems in MDA laboratories and AI field training.
“We see this radar simulation application for the US Missile Defense Agency as a significant validation of the capabilities and effectiveness of our compute accelerator technology for AI applications,” OSS CEO David Raun stated.
“We believe we were chosen for this upgrade because of our proven track record with similar simulator programs and our ability to consistently deliver the highest performance compute technology in harsh environments at the rugged edge.”
US Navy OSS Technology
The contract follows a recent OSS agreement with the US Navy to integrate ruggedized transportable flash storage arrays and associated components for the service’s Boeing P-8A Poseidon aircraft and ground base stations.
The project is an extension of a $36 million sole-source supplier agreement and will run for five years.
