The Thai Defense Technology Institute (DTI) has announced the successful live-fire tests of its new “D-Lion” and “Tiger” 4×4 armored vehicle weapons.
The tests, which were conducted at Thung Prong area in Chonburi province, demonstrated the power of the vehicles’ 12.7-millimeter turrets.
The guns reportedly hit static and mobile targets at a distance of 400 meters (1,312 feet).
The trial was conducted in accordance with the requirements for Thailand’s 4×4 mine-resistant, ambush-protected vehicles.
Additional Features
The D-Lion and Tiger 4×4 armored vehicles were produced jointly by South Africa’s Paramount Group and Thailand’s DTI.
They have a distinct clean-sheet design and provide a high level of ballistic and mine protection.
The vehicles are also equipped with the latest technologies to address the challenges of the modern battlefield.
Additionally, the D-Lion is fitted with a remotely-operated weapon station to allow warfighters to engage targets with precision fire from inside the vehicle.
