The Turkish government has completed a “successful” test-firing of its first domestically-developed air-to-ground ballistic supersonic missile.
Turkey’s Bayraktar Akıncı unmanned combat aerial vehicle struck a target at 100 kilometers (62 miles) with the TRG-230 missile.
The 12-meter (39-foot) aircraft took off from a base in Tekirdag province, traveling 700 kilometers (434 miles) to the northern Black Sea province of Sinop.
“We continue to exceed the limits with our national engineering capabilities,” TRG-230 developer Roketsan said in a tweet.

‘High Sensitivity’ Missile
Turkey’s first ballistic supersonic missile is capable of hitting targets from a range of 20 kilometers (12 miles) to 150 kilometers (93 miles).
The TRG-230 features “high sensitivity” amid GPS interference, allowing it to accurately hit both fixed and moving targets.
Targets of the missile would include artillery and air defense systems, radar stations, and logistics facilities, Daily Sabah noted.
