The UK Ministry of Defence has awarded Aeralis a 9-million-pound ($11 million) contract to deliver an integrated digital enterprise capability for the Global Combat Air Program (GCAP).
Called “Digital Aviation Learning from Experience,” the system will digitally design, engineer, and certify fixed-wing aircraft under UK military standards.
Furthermore, the capability’s cost-effective, risk-reduction approach will be integrated with other ministry projects, including the UK Future Combat Air System (FCAS).
“I am delighted that the Future Combat Air System will benefit from the transformational digital engineering services of Aeralis,” UK FCAS Director Richard Berthon said.
“The learning that we will get from Aeralis will support digital engineering across our FCAS enterprise; providing us with the information we need to be able to make informed decisions on this programme as it progresses.”
Creating Jobs
According to the company, the effort will produce more than 250 employment opportunities in the supply chain.
“This MOD contract is another exciting step towards rejuvenating the UK’s sovereign ability to develop whole aircraft ready for the future,” Aeralis CEO and Founder Tristan Crawford explained.
“We are looking forward to exploiting our digital foundation to boost innovation, create jobs and drive the progress of AERTEAM.”
Aeralis in UK Pyramid Program
The agreement follows a contract from the UK Royal Air Force Rapid Capabilities Office to support the service’s open mission system architecture “Pyramid.”
Under the contract, Pyramid will be synthesized with Aeralis’ modular avionics and mission system for more efficient future aircraft development.
