Elbit Systems Germany and Munich-based arms firm Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) have agreed to enhance rocket artillery cooperation for entirely local rocket production in Europe.

The companies have expressed a shared vision of ensuring Europe’s independence through locally produced future rocket artillery systems.

“I welcome the cooperation with Elbit. In this partnership, we see a chance to underline the potential of our artillery capabilities,” KMW Chair Ralf Ketzel said. “The potential opportunities allow KMW to become one of the most modern system houses for rocket artillery.”

The partnership was signed to modernize the European Multiple Launch Rocket System through the next-generation Euro-PULS (Precise and Universal Launching System).

‘Autonomous, Multi-Purpose’

The autonomous, multi-purpose PULS artillery rocket system features optimal responsiveness and firing flexibility for advanced rockets.

The PULS is equipped with two pods each, designed for a specific rocket type, allowing precise firing up to 300 kilometers (186 miles).

“I am confident that the Euro-PULS will provide an effective and timely solution for both the operational and industrial needs of European countries,” Elbit’s General Manager Yehuda Vered said.

“I am encouraged by the level of interest this initiative is already drawing from European and NATO countries.”

The Euro-PULS concept has already been offered to unidentified European customers.
