Elbit Systems has been awarded a follow-on contract worth 17 million pounds ($19.9 million) to produce and deliver additional night vision goggles (NGVs) to the British Army.
As part of the agreement, the company will supply the lightweight micro binocular XACT nv33 NVGs in a helmet-mounted configuration.
Additionally, Elbit Systems will provide through-life support for the system.
The cutting-edge goggles are designed to enable soldiers to perform missions more effectively, even in low-light environments.
“This contract award follows the successful and rapid delivery of our night vision goggles to the British military, and builds on our track record of efficiency, our domestic manufacturing capabilities, and our proven and cutting-edge equipment,” company official Martin Fausset said.
Work for the contract will be performed over 18 months.
The UK Ministry of Defence previously awarded Elbit Systems an 11.5-million-pound ($16.2 million) contract in 2021 to provide the night vision goggles to the armed forces.
Features
The XACT nv33 image-intensifying goggle enhances the military’s surveillance capabilities.
It enables soldiers to detect enemies early, react quickly, and maintain a tactical edge at night.
The wearable technology can be used when driving armored vehicles and is also suitable for parachute jumping and maritime operations.
The XACT nv33 system is already in service with NATO countries such as Germany and the Netherlands.
