Israel-based defense firm Elbit Systems has received a $25-million contract to produce and deliver modernized radio communications systems to Finland.

According to the company, the communications systems will provide the Finnish Army with enhanced, secure tactical command and fire control.

The systems will be compatible with analogue radio equipment currently in use by soldiers.

Elbit Systems manager Haim Delmar said the agreement validates the technological and operational advantages being offered by its communications products.

“I am honored by the trust placed by the Finnish Defence Ministry in our capabilities. We look forward to a continued partnership with the Finnish defense forces,” he stated.

The modernized communications systems are expected to be delivered within the next two years.

The company’s military radio communications solutions are currently operational in European and NATO countries such as Canada, Spain, Germany, and Switzerland.
